I need help with identifying this bug, I found at least 10 of them in my mattress and I am terrified it might be infested. They're very tiny (see video below for reference), black (or perhaps really dark brown) slim and thin, they seem to have legs but they are so tiny it is not visible. They do not have any other distinguishing feature (no large behind, no antennas, nothing). I searched multiple times but couldn't find anything similar. So please help, does anyone have any idea what this is? I honestly cannot tell from the photo or video what you exactly have. They are too small in the pic's to discern much detail.
If you could put 2-3 or so in alcohol without crushing them and then take as good a close-up as you can with your cellphone we could maybe tell you more. Only a shallow cap of alcohol is necessary.
I think if I noticed a number of little critters like this on my mattress I would "dump" the item ASAP; unless of coarse the mattress is relatively new. Perhaps, in that case I would consider using one of those "bug bombs" in the room. Just follow the instructions (I think you set one on the floor) and in a hour or two you open the door and windows to the room and you are all good...
I only mention the use of one of those "bug bombs" because those critters could be coming from --- or living in the carpeting.

I have managed to get a better close up of it, and I think it might be a thrips, what do you think? I don't mind dumping the mattress, but could it have infested other things like the bed itself? I believe you are correct. Although thrips are mainly associated with crop issues and greenhouse I have read that thrips may invade houses and infest objects such as furniture, bedding, and computer monitors.
None the less a "bug bomb" placed in the room to fumigate the space with kill off anything present. Vacuum the carpeting real well afterward or get rid of it (if it's old anyway). Make sure you never bring any plants into the room. Hopefully, your problem will be solved and all you have to consider is whether you wish to still keep the mattress.
Down the road be vigilant to make sure those pesky things do not re-appear. If so, you may wish to contact an exterminator who can investigate the situation at hand and he can then recommend how they are coming in and how best to never have them again!
My best wishes

They are indeed thrips.
