A lot of us use PayPal, it's pretty much the standard for payment. I see a lot of sellers advertising Ebay listings.
This is all well and good- until you, as a seller need to make a refund. PayPal does not return seller fees, period. 2.9% + .30 Ebay is reticent to return your final value fees, even if you make a 100% refund to a buyer.
I was always against people using "friends and family", but my next listings, are going to be very different. I will not lose any more money to greedy entities, this is a hobby, not a business for me.
Sellers and buyers alike should keep these things in mind when making decisions, if,as a buyer, you're not sure about someone- ask the community. If you're a seller and can absorb losses, fine, or deal with the issues of not giving refunds for what ever issue comes up.

They give you a voucher towards seller fees. While you don't get the money in cash you do get back the value in the long run.

Upon checking I saw that PayPal does indeed not refund the fees. They might argue that they have to finance their buyer's protection somehow.

They give you a voucher towards seller fees. While you don't get the money in cash you do get back the value in the long run. This remains to be seen. I've already given out refunds for Ebay buyers, my invoice did not reflect that, I'm not new to Ebay, I have to get back with a representative this next business week to see if they can possibly afford to give me back my 8.49. Besides that, Paypal decided I didn't have enough money to give out a 31.10 refund, even though my linked bank account has several hundred dollars in it, I am waiting for a bank transfer to put money into PayPal so I can do this, even though, in the meantime, I'm still able to make purchases using PayPal. Now if you have an explanation for that- I'd love to hear it. Like I already posted- beware your choices. These people have expensive hobbies, like launching space rockets, and need all the money they can get.

Sounds like a partial refund to me? They are best done through the eBay interface. But it is complicated, it involves many steps from the buyer and seller.
Yes, spending money on credit is always possible but rarely advised.
Besides that, Elon Musk was fired from PayPal in the year 2000. He's not the one grabbing your money. I also don't like people bashing him. The things he has achieved in his life thus far are enough to cover at least geniuses.

You don't know the situation. I've been using Ebay since the late 90's. I know what I'm doing. They changed the rules in the middle of me biting the bullet and giving out refunds for infertile ova, every one of which has cost me money directly out of my pocket? OK? What ever your issue is,I did not bash anyone. I watched Musk booze it up and smoke pot on tv, so too bad if you think he's a genius.

This was actually a new policy implemented late last year or early this year (sorry I cannot remember when exactly but fairly recent) "If you refund a payment for goods or services, there are no fees to process the refund, but the fees you originally paid as the seller are not returned to you." developer.paypal.com/docs/admin/refunds/#:~:text=You%20can%20refund%20the%20entire,are%20not%20returned%20to%20you.

Both grow increasingly greedy. Try Etsy, try Zelle. Though neither have the usage, thus volume, the giants do. One must factor ever increasing costs to doing business with eGhey and ScrewPal.

Increasingly greedy. Agreed. I've never heard of those other payment platforms. Giving a platform access to your bank account is a big deal, and except for perishable goods, I liked the old days and money orders. I still know people who wouldn't buy something online to save their life. I'm just going to modify the way I do business online, I only use a laptop, don't own a "smartphone" (those quotes are there for a reason). I find the name of the last platform mentioned amusing though.

Ok, if anyone cares- I just got my Ebay invoice straightened out, and have my seller fee credit for the refunded infertile ova- which by the way was from a witnessed natural pairing. Anyway, I did have to ask for this to be done, maybe it would have been magically done by some software app. In all fairness, besides the fact of having to do it in the first place, it was a simple enough process. I'm still going to make different selling choices next time, it's easier to prevent than cure. So- this is my last comment on this post...probably.
