Wow!! That is really neat. If I lived there I would collect the larva to get moths to sell. Any bug collectors out there must have a really good time when the moths hatch out. Love to see mass populations ware I live of nice desirable leps.

When they start hatching, the adults are all over the sidewalks and lower parts of buildings. You can walk around and look for variations in size and coloration for your collection. The males are seen flying up and down the streets looking for females on the ground. When my Sweetie had a house on Freret Street near Carrollton, we used to chase them up and down Carrollton while drivers watched in awe from their cars. They try to kill all of the caterpillars with poisons and other methods, but due to the good habitat in the area the moths still thrive. Most of the specimens where we are now in Houma, Louisiana are parasitized by a large bee mimicking fly.
