In 1994, the USA banned the manufacture and distribution of any type of product containing Mercury (Ru). There were exceptions. One of those was for Scientific use (collection of insects for study).That was twenty years ago. As of 1 January 2010, nothing containing Mercury (Ru) was allowed to enter the USA. Canada as of 1 January 2010 has the dame restrictions.
