Hello 👋🏼, I’m currently staying in a well-known hotel in the UK. We noticed a few bugs in the bathroom, but assumed it was because the weather was quite hot and accepted there might be a few bugs around. We squished them and chucked them down the toilet. Then I got up to use the loo at 3am, switched on the light and there were about 5/6 crawling on the floor. My partner just said it’s because it’s hot and to chill out (🤣😭), I got back into bed and felt crawling on me but I thought it was psychological. I hopped out of bed and there must’ve been 15 crawling in and on the bed, I then looked closer at the floor and there were more. We switched rooms and they were still there albeit in a lesser quantity. So we moved up to the 1st floor and haven’t seen any. Here are some pictures: ibb.co/L5XLQhnibb.co/jWDpG21It’s quite hot here in the UK at the moment, I don’t know if that’s relevant. At first they seemed to be interested in the water in the bathroom. I’d say it was between 1/2 - 3/4 inch in size. Please let me know what you think it might be... I’m freaking out here 😭 Thank you!!

They are a beetles from family Carabidae ( ground beetles), could be Harpalus rufipes but I’m not a beetle expert so I might be wrong. They flew inside the room lured by the light. You should keep windows closed or have a screen to stop them coming. Although they harmless to human I imagine it is not a pleasant feeling having them crawling in the bed at night.
