My mother has been suffering from a seriously itchy scalp, and upon shaking her hair numerous of these little insects fell out. They have six legs, are tan and translucent of colour, walk with two probing feelers. Seems to have two body segments. None exceed 1mm in length, many are smaller. Pictures are zoomed in as far as my camera would go. ibb.co/QnZSgBxibb.co/m6K8SKribb.co/JR4Z2Rj

I don't think they are insects, despite your description of the 2 probing feelers. The "feelers" may just appear to not be legs because of the way they move. Most insects have 3 body segments, a head, thorax and abdomen.
They're going to be mites most likely, ticks act differently and probably wouldn't be numerous. Perhaps some medicated shampoo would solve the issue.

Greetings,
I can't completely make out the image, but I would lean toward mites as well. Few ticks are "translucent" and ticks are very unlikely to fall out of someone's hair by shaking the head due to the way they cling to the hair and scalp.
Cheers! Bandrow

These are mites, not sure what kind though. Does she have any pets, a bird perhaps? It's pretty rare to have mites infesting humans.
