Are collectors of Diptera endangered species, or do they exist but are too self-conscious to broadcast the fact?
Moth collectors seem to have no such hangups. Why can't the fly-boys come out of wherever they come out from and show us their wares...

Here is a Diopsidae Stalk-eyed Fly that I found in Malaysia around the Mt. Kinabalu area. Not mounted very well, but I really only do beetles. Rick

Here's another fly and a wasp from the backyard here in New Mexico. Batesian mimicry maybe? Fly body length about 3 cm.

Calm down Clark sounds like you are getting excited ! Barry looks like a Tachinid of some sp , I have reared similar species from beetle larva Genus Novapus here in nth Queensland . I think Dipterists must be an endangered species or simply too busy to comment . Some interesting stalk eyed flies about .

A bit big for a Tachinid I think Jack... This one is 2cm from nose to tail...

Yep , we get them up in the north here as well Barry , I sent some to the museum and they said great to have some records of hosts for these flies finally . Besides rearing them from Novapus in the Eucalypt forest I see them sitting around on logs in the rainforest as well.
