A vey nice species indeed ! And hard to find.
A British collector I know has self-caught several pairs in Eastern Turkey. It was very impressive to see them.

I remember Claude saying what prices these would cost nowadays, I'm glad I'm not just starting out. I think the problem with obtaining this species is it's location, not a place I would recommend visiting for an entomological holiday.

It's a nice species and the price goes up and down with the political turmoil in the region. I don't know what they fetch now but I think people are more willing again to pay good for them.

Like any Apatura with the yellow bands coming through. From my time in Germany I knew the describor of this species in person. Günter Ebert. When I remember it correctly it is from 1971. A sample of the species was brought to him by a local entomologist and it was unlike anything he had seen before.

they can be still purchased for reasonable prices. I saw A1 males recently for 120€ per piece, females A1- for 200€
