Does anyone know what the current legislation regarding collecting in Nepal is?
Of course I am thinking of collecting outside National Parks...

You have to have permits: www.thefreelibrary.com/LEAD%3a+Japanese+insect+collector+to+face+court+in+Nepal.-a063024237Even with permits, it comes down to the individual governmental agent. Some don't care about "bugs," some are intensely interested and want to see everything you have, some follow the letter of the law exactly, and some want a bribe. I am told that you should have some money along with a permit just in case an agent isn't convinced your permit is valid. Others here will know the specifics and one member has a website listing different countries rules.

i have interests too. nowadys many chinese tourists choose Nepal to travel, and very easily to get the VISA. going from Tibet is easily. i ever thought to go and collect. perhaps in 2012. or 2013. traveling itself is very easy but i also wonder if it is safe to collect there without a permit.
i think if you have a nepalnese collector or dealer friend would save you a lot time to learn. anyone collector or dealers here live in Nepal?
