received an email from a indonesian probably SWINDLER!! he provided me an pair O.Alex said it was from Jaya Pura (East Papuan). offered at the price for 800usd,after i bargained some,he agreed for 700usd. it is abusolutelly quite enticing,a BIG lure!!! i asked a friend who has Alex, that if it was a fake one, because the abadom looks more like 2D instead of 3D. he said : I would say that they are decidedly fake and they have been manufactured. They do look 2 dimensional, especially the addomen and the abdomen shape and colours aren't correct. The wing shape is incorrect on both male and female as well, I think that someone has coloured paper to look like O. alex. There are a lot of criminals who will take your money and give you nothing in return! Because O. alex. is protected they think that they can scam you and cannot complain because O. alex is protected anyway. Also O alex. is not found in Indonesia, so definitely this seller is a crook! his name is "Nahruddin",from Indonesia. I CAN'T 100% be sure it is a fake but probably!! i don't hope see your regreated threads in future!!!!!!!!! TAKE GREAT CARE!!! Attachments:

his email is Nahruddin Insects <nahruddin@rocketmail.com>
i asked him if he ever sold O.Alex before? he answered: " For you know, Before I ever sell 3 ea Orn. Alexandrie (2 Male + 1 Female) to tourists / tourists from France That Is Mr. Christiand When Come to My Place. He bought My Orn. Alexandrie by Price USD 1250 for 3 ea Orn. Alexandrie. "
that's all!
nowadys every collector want a pair or a male O.alex, the excitment with emails attached near real photos(actually fake!) and plus the swindlers claimed only one pair, is easily made buyers to pay immedially.
anyway, before taking your $$ out to buy,ask more other people or place an thread for help. the wisdom from all over the collectors/entomologists/dealers worldly could help! and thanks to them!

My question is: why are you even considering trading in a CITES 1 species? A friend of mine went to jail for that.

answer to Mr.Clark,
i thought the situation here is not as restirct as in the United States,it's easy to receive a parcel without problem most times. it depends on which EXPRESS to use. seldomly be taken for through X-Ray,so nobody know what is in the parcel. and i don't transfer them for exchange or deal, just meet the needs of myself,a pair or a male is totally enough.
that was what went on my mind. hope i expressed well and easy understood.

China accepted CITES in 1981, what you tried to do is illegal since 30 years...just in case you didn't know...

i did knew this.. but by now there's no any illegitimate cases of CITES insects happened here. only to do with domestic portected species came problem and people went to jail life. thouse got "rewards" were all dealers, collector having sample specimen at home are no problem at least i never heard of.
seeing from your name, are you in Japan? i heard there were at least 300 pairs O.Alex there from different agencies and private collectors,a japanese friend told me. ;D
again,i did not initiativlly seeked O.alex, this indonesian crook found my email and wrote to me. even if i didn't tended to buy it is still necessary to post it here. as it was just an trick.

You know if you are willing to go through the hassle of permitting and of course to pay the fee you can basically buy anything you want. If you look carefully on the CITES permitting at FWS, etc. here in US there are even provisions for how many rhinos and big cats you can import for canned hunts and such. It's a matter of following the law, going through the permitting process and paying the customary fee per species. Just one more way the environment can lose to industry, even if it is government "wildlife protection" industry. The fee is surprisingly nominal given the scarcity of some of the animals. I wish we could import unscrupulous government officials for the same purpose and low fee.
