I was sent a number of Idea blanchardii from Palolo in Central Sulawesi, included was this one. It has got me stumped. It's a female and I think an Idea species. I have looked through all my books and Googled the internet and I cannot make an identity. Any Danaidae specialists out there, I need your help. imgur.com/VGO4E6T

Is there more than the underside? A peek onto the dorsal side would already help.
In that area you have several subspecies of Idea blanchardii that look differently, but most are suffused grey, except the Idea blanchardii phlegeton that should be familiar to you.
On the islands East, (Sula, Buru, Ambon, Seram, Saparua etc.) you have Idea idea. That species has the clear dotted pattern like Idea leuconoe, but the same elongated dots like I. blanchardii in the post discal area on the hind wing. (The long lines just after the marginal band). Inferring from what I can see on the underside it might be something like that.

imgur.com/Lj5zBlvThanks Claude, looking at the dorsal image and the markings around the fw cell I suspect an I.blanchardii form

Well, to me this is an Idea blanchardii phlegeton. They do not occur in Central Sulawesi, but the Tukangbesi Islands. I remember having a large set of those from you that came from Binongko Island.
