If I understand you correctly, these are purchased specimens?
When I was a teenager, I had a friend who purchased specimens. I also had a friend like me who field collected specimens.
I am not being critical. To each his own. It is probably cheaper to purchase specimens. However, I just like ,"Getting Among Them!!"

I only purchase specimens , sorry!
I can't imagine travelling to some impenetrable forest in Vietnam to catch it myself!
And sometimes I wonder about the people who risked their lives to catch some of the specimens I have in my collection. Some areas must be extremely dangerous.

You can do both Leroy, the two are not exclusive, if you only catch your own then a collection is very limited geographically and impoverished as to certain groups, especially in England. I love going out to collect, I also enjoy buying rarities.

it was vietnambutterflies. You have to take your time to look at the pictures carefully though because nothing is graded.

I cannot collect all the Lepidoptera known to occur in North America, much less the rest of the world.
My collecting effort in 2021 will be South West South Dakota, Montana, Wyoming and Utah. I also want to return to Douglas Pass in Colorado.
