I'm no specialist on Ornithoptera but, it is likely the most commonly occurring (version); if you will....
I lack the most up to date book on these butterflies (as it costs several hundred dollars); however, T. brookiana
is somewhat widespread throughout the Thai-Malay Peninsula. It may be found in Borneo, Natuna, Sumatra as well as
various small islands west of Sumatra (Banyak, Simeulue, Batu, and Mentawai).
Some of my older books (as well as the web) mention at least 3 different subspecies names and at least 2 (if not 3)
named forms. How valid any of these truly are (anymore) will likely be resolved in the latest book OR by a specialist on the group.
These butterflies like all butterfly species offer some variation (color-wise) within the species so some naturally
have a touch more green or blue present; with varying amounts of white also in the cells of the wings.
Photography and lighting (angles) of coarse enhance the structural colors and/or portions of the wing colored as such.
Your specimen is nicely prepared. Well done...
