Hi everybody, I wanted to ask your help to seek reassurance on my suspicions regarding this bug. It’s been nearly two years that I have been fighting with what I think are silverfishes. Below is a picture of insects I would normally find in the bathroom floor, occasionally in the bath. However for the past two months I have found, at least on 3 occasions, way larger versions of what I initially thought were the same bug. The difference is that I am finding these larger ones on walls (!), one was even almost near the ceiling. As you can see from the below pics, I always found it moving on walls (even corridor outside the bathroom), never on floor. They look v v dark (not really ‘silver’ in colour) Any reassurance on what this may be and advice on what I could do to deal with it would be most appreciated. Thanks. Yes, these are silverfish. If you want to get rid of them you should consult a pest control expert, but bear in mind even a professional may not be able to completely eradicate them and it is also possible that they could reinfest from outside. I rather doubt that anyone here will be able to eradicate them for you, although some members may have sensible advice which could at least minimize the population inside your house.

Thanks, Adam - much appreciated. Any thoughts of I may be suddenly seen larger ones and why they are on walls?

Silverfish love heat and humidity, that is why you often find them in the bathroom, it is the climate more than a food source that attracts them to the bathroom. Lowering humidity helps but that is hard with all the hot water used in taking a shower. Look online (google) Silverfish control as it will provide some options to try that should reduce numbers before trying any pesticides.
