I've had this tiny creatures clinging to a moldy portion of the ceiling for a few weeks now. -Measurements: 1-2 mm in length. ~1mm in width. -Characteristics: Six legged with a wide abdomen (as compared to their head); flightless with slow movement. -Behavior: They gather in tiny clusters (with a few of them being secluded from said clusters). Also noticed that they were many black/dark brown dots surrounding the clusters (eggs?). Questions: (1) what type of insects am I dealing with?, (2) what could've caused the infestation?, (3) are these in any way harmful?, and if so (4) how to get rid of them? Thank you in advance. It looks like a Psocid (often known as a book louse). They eat mould and like damp places. The best way to get rid of them is decrease the humidity and stop the mould from growing. Of course in a tropical country like Venezuela it may not be possible to reduce the humidity cheaply.
These insects won't bite you or anything like that, but the ceiling may get damaged firstly by the mould, then the Psocids eating it.
