I thought I'd show one of my Lepidopteran "Variety" drawers which I tend to show guests and they are usually awe-struck. I have several such drawers and admittedly I got the idea from forum member lordpandarus -- after seeing some photo's of his wonderfully displayed collection. My material however, is all pinned and labelled in a Cornell drawer and placed (similarly) in a pleasing arrangement.

Indeed they are yorky !
As well as the Inachis, xanthomelas, and N. antiopa.
I do win a few bids here and there. As you know he has impeccable goods.
I just seem to have a hard time winning any of his abberant specimens is there seems to be a lot of contention in winning those...

Wonderful display, I like the details of symmetry. I’m not going to repeat about art of spreading by you as it’s been said here hundred of times. This is a great example that one doesn’t have to use shiny Morphos or Ornithoptera or other exotic species to impress others. Well done!

Here is one of my European selections offering a little bit' of this and that... Nice drawer. To me it looks more palearctic than European. Is that Proterebia afra in the center? (Russian distribution). And are the orange tips in the center Zegris pyrothoe? (Kazakhstan).

I think the Satyrid in the center is Berberia, possibly B. abdelkader female.

Hello nomihoudai, Indeed you are more correct in calling it a Palearctic drawer. Time for a new drawer label 👍😊
The drawer does feature specimens from a smattering of places across Europe and indeed into Russia. There are even a few specimens from Morocco.
As for names I have virtually none for any of these things. You certainly will know far more (than I ever will) about these as species.
This compilation of specimens comes from two different collections. All of the specimens were "cherry-picked" because of their excellent condition. However, I did have to remount about 10 of them for better aesthetic appeal.
In many situations involving specimens foreign to the US (in my collection); I don't have any names or otherwise identifications to go with. They appeal to me more so for their beauty, uniqueness, or differing locality -- from anything else I may have...
I am just an aesthetic collector overall but, I am an avid field man (whenever I can get out) and I have been a lifelong passionate enthusiast of insects since the age of five.

I love the way the forelegs are set in the first drawer's Catocalas. Whenever I try to do this, I wind up breaking them of!. Must require that talent thing you read about...
