Thank you gaspipe for your kind remarks about the drawer. Somehow,
I thought others might comment on the diversity or arrangement.
I could very easily have put each one of these differing species
into separate unit trays and they would still have appeal however,
I looked over what I had at the time and just thought -- wouldn't
all these look good arranged in a drawer in some manner. For me the
idea of just columns and rows is too basic a concept (for arrangement).
Hence, the balanced (symmetrical) appearance of the design.
Hey, I have "fun" with my stuff pulling together the occasional
drawer (as these I have shown in this topic).
Anyway, yes all of these were spread whilst still fresh. They are scale
perfect. No pin holes / no scratches. Someone was very good with things
this size !
I too spread whatever small fry I collect right away. Even a matter of
hours can make a difference. I can always tell when material like this
has been prepared from (papered). Quite frankly, they rarely ever look
all that good and the bodies seem to have a "flattened" look about them.
There are I am sure a few folks who can work with these once dried out
and rehydrated. But, honestly I think they are a small minority with years
of experience, expertise, and a special "skillset". My humble opinion...
I never imagined the European "theatre" of countries was so rich in
Lycaenidae species. I have yet another drawer-full of them (something
like this) plus another half drawer of overflow...
Thanks, for your interest in these !
