I don't understand why this website has both a Classifieds section and a Marketplace section. It seems redundant to me, and it's time-consuming to search through both. What is the reasoning for having both? To me, adapting one standard for selling all insects is preferable to having two separate sets of criteria.

That's a good question. I think the marketplace is for more "professional" sellers that do this for a living, or part of one, and the classifieds are more for sporadic offerings from hobbyists, skill level aside. I notice the same thing, and a person either has to scroll through the ads, or do a specific search. Nothing is perfect, and one or more of us will find faults with anything, I've mentioned the flood of ebay ads, but I don't have a good solution or any better ideas. Also, I think perhaps the marketplace brings income to the site that free classifieds don't, and I do like the way that works.

I will try to help .The InsectNet Classifieds is a classifieds board where you can post your insects for exchange, sale or ask for a specific book or insect you want to buy. Classifieds ads are deleted after few weeks. It is free, once registered. .The InsectNet Marketplace is an alternative to eBay. It is a marketplace: you can choose to sell your insects in auctions or at fixed price. Your items are listed there until sold (or the duration you choose). It has been created with the help of some insect sellers to build an alternative to eBay crazy fee policy. On the InsectNet Marketplace, sellers pay only 5% on final value (if sold). On eBay, a seller pays more than 13% fee, insertion fees and so on. It is a big success as we have some orders everyday ! Our best sellers are saving hundreds of dollars in fees. It enables them offer better prices to customers or get better margins. We have now more than 700 registered customers on the InsectNet Marketplace. If you are a classic collector with few specimens to sell, the Classifieds works well. If you are a professional seller with hundreds of interesting specimens, the InsectNet Marketplace is better for you. You will have much more visits and sales than on your own website (for only 5% cost). I hope it answers your question.
