Hi, I'd like to start a new project after succesfully breeding of some rhino and stag beetles. Would like to try darkling beetles and I do have questions. Which species would You recommend me to breed, as I'd like exotic, but also accessible. What about enclosure, conditions etc, I will appreciate any good source of informations. Thank You all very much.

If you are in the USA, exotic beetles are regulated, apparently it's possible to get a permit, that topic has been discussed at Beetleforum.net As for the other particulars, replicating their natural habitat is a good place to start, or there are beetle books, I've got one by Orin Mcmonigle that covers a lot of species. I kept a large darkling beetle for close to a year I caught in eastern Oregon in a largish enclosure from a pet shop, some soil, sand and food kept it well enough. They don't need a tall enclosure, just floor space.

maplematt has stated in another topic that he is located in Czech Republic. Check out kaeferforum.com/. Haven't been there in ages but they certainly can answer all your questions about any kind of beetles and give you contacts on where to obtain them.
