Beautiful picture but exaggerates the colors. In a collection it doesn't look like that Perhaps the viewing angle has to be quite specific in order to see the blue sheen? I have a Siderone syntyche polymela that displays this characteristic - the blue on the forewings is only visible when viewed at a certain angle.

Beautiful picture but exaggerates the colors. In a collection it doesn't look like that Indeed! But that's what a lot of species look like in the intense sunlight of the tropics. I looked pretty closely at the photos when they were first linked - and that's what I concluded. Nothing obviously altered - just intense natural lighting! Here is a skipper that is dull black in collections - under Belize sun! John

yes, under full sunlight you see the irridescence. But in collections it's always disappointing to see those dark blue irridescent species that do not really show full colors like in color photos taken from specific angles and lighting. Lots of Eunica, Agrias, Prepona and many other blue species appear black in normal room lighting
