Hi - I’m almost at wit’s end, and could really use some help with identification of this bug(s). I’m in Tennessee, and recently my girlfriend has been complaining about itching when in bed. We couldn’t find anything to say it was bugs, until we began to look closer and finally got a video of one. For reference, it was maybe the size of a dot of a pen. I now see one or two crawling every now and then, but never in a large quantity. Ive bug bombed my entire house, had an exterminator out who sprayed for ticks, and washed all linens multiple times. Any help would be much appreciated! imgur.com/a/sS9oirf

We actually do have a golden doodle that, when not groomed, has been known to have a few ticks on him. What’s worrying, though, is I had the exterminator spray for ticks since that’s what it looked like to me as well.

Wash the sheets, put mattress outside in the sun and rotate Avery few minutes. Wipe down cracks and corners of bed with alcohol or cleaner.

These first instar ticks (seed ticks) can be a bit annoying. What happens is your dog will get a tick that will engorge and drop off, if you do not see it (they look like a small grape). This tick will lay hundreds of eggs and when they hatch these seed ticks are crawling around looking for a host. Since they are so small they are hard to see on the dog or your legs. Anyway add vacuuming your floors (especially the carpet) every day for a week or so as that will pick up what your other methods miss. Also make sure to put a piece of duct tape over your vacuum bag when you are not using the vacuum as the ticks can crawl out of the bag if it is not sealed.
