Hi! I started a closed ecosystem about 3 or so weeks ago, and there's this bug that's been there since the beginning that I can't identify for the life of me. The closest thing I've been able to find was the burying beetle, but this is aquatic and doesn't have the red things on its face, and doesn't have the weird section in between its back and its head. In every other way, it's a match.
The bug's about the size of a dime, maybe a bit smaller. Could not possibly be more circular. It spends most of its time hiding behind a rock, face down. Never seen it eat, but it's still alive so what do I know. I'm in ontario, directly between montreal and Ottowa. I got it from a small creek that leads into the Ottawa river. Cheers!

It’s probably predatory. Have any very small fish in there?

It’s probably predatory. Have any very small fish in there? Nah, none. I heard they don't do well in these. There are some small water bugs, but no.
