The Zeuzera pyrina are out now, coming to MV. In capturing a few, handling with forceps, afterwards my fingers smell horrible, like stink bugs.
I've never noticed this before. A quick search turned up nothing.
Any observations?

A quick search turned up nothing. Any observations? Thanks, Chuck The larvae of some cossid moths (especially the Goat Moth, Cossus cossus) are known for their ability to emit a foul smell. I've not heard anything about adult cossids producing odors, but it wouldn't be surprising if this was retained in the adult form. |
