Last week during in vacantion in Antalya, Turkey, I took a photo of this dragonfly: link here.
I had a real problem trying to ID it because seemed like nothing of the visual data on the web wouldn't fit. everything that look alike has a different range. Asking for ID on iNaturalist I got split opinions as being Trithemis festiva or not. The problem seems to be the black wing tips that this specie usually don't have although seems to be present on some individuals. I would really appreciate some more opinions from any of you guys having more knowledge and experience in Odonata than me.

You know, the problem with identifying some insects from various countries is that there is oftentimes very little literature available to identify anything.

Also, even when literature can be found it oftentimes focuses on only the lepidoptera or coleoptera of a given country. You start looking at insects from other orders and you may find nothing at all...

I would also add that in some countries the study of insects almost seems out of place for the cultures present.

With all the strife, mayhem, and everyday survival going on in parts of the Middle East, the assorted "stans" (which for once part of the USSR), and various destitute countries in Africa; how would anyone take up the hobby or even a career in the science given the conditions.

You may have seen a dragonfly in Turkey that hasn't even been identified yet !

If I recall, the lead entomologist passed away a couple years ago; so I'm not sure what the status is.
