A scarce species, Thaumantis ķlugius, despite the conspicuous beauty of both male and female upper wings, has an unknown caterpillar and life history. Specimens are not often found for sale nowadays, most of the few that are available seem to have come from old collections. I think that it is one of the most striking forest butterflies, both male and female, with an interestingly patterned underside too. Dark Blue Jungle Glory Butterfly imgur.com/gallery/8Sx8bBdJohnny

The closest species to it that I have in my collection is probably Thauria aliris.

I have the honour of being the repository of the collection of the late Thai Lepidopterist, Prasobsuk Sukkit, and thought I would share a photo of the Thaumantis box in his collection. They are really spectacular butterflies. Adam.

That is a spectacular box indeed !
Thank you Adam for sharing your late friends treasures with us.
It looks however, as though the protective fumigants that your friend used for his collection have --- run out !
Of course that doesn't matter if you're keeping those boxes in a fumigated cabinet.

The boxes are all very safe. The little yellow lump near the fumigant container is a piece of Vapona strip. The specimens in his collection are stored in over 200 Japanese boxes which have a very tight seal, and the whole collection is kept in my room, which is regularly fumigated. Adam.
