Here is the only "smokey" dark looking parnassian that I own. Can anyone tell me what species this could be ? Also, can anyone decipher the label data as I find it illegible... It's a wonderful specimen. No repairs and all the legs are there ! It is somewhat historic given its age. Maybe (from what I can read):VII 1929 (?) The elevation given says 11500' so, that pretty incredible... The lower label says: Coll. Eisner and the (scratch-out) reads Berlin. I think its very cool overall and would just like to know something more. By the way, does Coll. mean collector or collection of ?

It would be nice to have a larger photo of the label, but to me it looks as though it says "Kungey Ala-tau", which is in northern Kyrgyzstan. Parnassius experts may correct me but I believe the species is P. delphius.
"Coll." means collection of...

I agree with bobw, the label states Kungey Ala-tau, and the second line is Kurmenty Pass. This is in the north-east of Kyrgyzstan. Indeed this is Parnassius delphius subspecies albulus. Adam.

P. delphius pulchra f. styx
This form is common in this ssp. Full black delphius is f. satanas. I think I have also 1-2 specimens collected by the same person from an old collection.
ssp. albus occurs in Naryn valley only and black morph is comoletely absent in this ssp.
