Dear All,
Despite having read, and re-read, the original descriptions of each, having quite a lot of literature and specimens I still REALLY struggle to differentiate between P. blumei blumei and blumei fruhstorferi!!!
I recently got some more specimens of both subspecies; some from North Sulawesi and some from Bantimurung and thus I know I have a mix of both nominate and ssp. fruhstorferi.
Anyway...because the data for all the North Sulawesi specimens was the same and the data for the Bantimurung specimens was the same when I set them I stupidly put one label on each setting board. All was well until my five year old presented me with the labels and I now can't tell which are the blumei specimens and which are the fruhstorferi!!!
I've taken pictures of the upperside/underside of each and hope someone can help...especially if you can tell me a sure-fire way of differentiating between the two...
