a friend of mine spent many years in Solomon Island working for a tuna fish factory and had the chance to collect interesting butterflies in different islands - he gave me the permission to send some photos

Hello Alberto, that your friend should thank God or whoever for him to have been able to collect these specimens.
known, however, that the samples are quite constant in color, the Imago does not seem to be affected by the color extremely variable Victoriae. specimens from various islands or part of the same population?
Jonathan, I can only say that I unfortunately agree with you.
maybe in ten years ................... twenty years ............. the price will be affordable. otherwise I think I'll be moving to Guadalcanal. I say that life there is not very expensive.
What do you think?

Seeing all those images of male allotei, perhaps the supposed breeding programme, set up in the Solomon Islands to obtain this rare butterfly for sale for large amounts to overseas collectors was indeed true.

I'm not a big fan of Ornithoptera but I must admit that the above specimens are absolutely stunning.
