This would have to be a personal favourite for me. I know that its just a O. richmondia (with 2 goldspots may i add) its not the most impressive Ornithoptera species, but more so because this specimen was my first wild caught birdwing, there are lots of collectors im sure that have Ornithoptera, but to actually catch one for yourself and that specimen is added to your collection is quite a great feeling indeed. so this is why this specimen is my favourite. its not a perfect specimen, but i have both the joy and the memory of seeing it when it was alive and flying zac Attachments:

Hi Hannes Your cytherea specimens are glorious. You are lucky to own a pair. I have one large male [14 cm] from Enarotali, West New Guinea, which I bought set from a German dealer at a fair. Are your specimens from the same locality. I believe this taxon flies at quite a high elevation. Does it occur with O. chimaera charybdis. Hi Zacatak You must treasure your self caught O. richmondia, I like the hindwing gold spots. This taxon is unique and hard to obtain nowadays. I personally regard richmondia as a full species. Hi jaume, a beautiful blue O. priamus priamus specimen. Peter. Thank you for sharing.

Both specimens are labelled with Wamena, Indonesia. I got them from Christoph Zoeller, Germany. I don't know if the fly together with charybdis.

John Nice and very well set tithonus specimens. Thanos A strong form of confluenta. A nice golden sheen on forewings and again very well set. Does anyone have images of O. meridionalis tarunggarensis specimens from other localities in West New Guinea. They would be interesting to compare from those from Timika. I also would love to see a specimen of the very rare O. chimaera flavidior. Peter.

Hi richiejames Welcome to the forum, I am a new member to. I am really enjoying it here. Your chimaera charybdis specimen from the little known Wandammen mountains is most welcome. This is the first chimaera specimen I have seen from there. Here are two of my favourite specimens of O. meridionalis taruggarensis from Timika that are in my collection. This is a stunning butterfly. Peter Attachments:
