Avellaneda is one of the most beautiful butterflies in flight that I have ever seen.

I have never seen a picture of P.avellaneda in its natural habitat. Has anybody one? Lovely Pierids from Robert. It is surprising that there are no photographs of Living P. avellaneda on the web and only specimens or those figures of this species on Cuban stamps. Other images of Phoebis species whether they are mud puddling, resting or visiting flowers are always showing the undersides which is often the case with many members of the Pieridae family. If any photographs exist of P. avellaneda in nature, you are not going to see those gorgeous uppersides unless someone is lucky enough obtain a flight shot.

Phoebis philea huebneri, also from Cuba is very nice, I think some of the females are better colour than avellaneda.
