There are always some people ( fortunately small percentage of ) that will never be happy and will always complaine no matter what you do. I know as I am dealing with my customers everyday too. I don’t buy specimens so I don’t care too much but 94.5% score I wouldn’t be worry if I want to order something. Paul, I think there is only a small percentage of people who will never be happy whatever you do. The negative feedbacks you are refering to, were not received because I would not deliver the sold specimens to the buyer. The deals are not complicated, here are the terms, here are the specimens, this is what it's going to cost you and let me have your address so I can deliver the specimens to you. I recall one buyer, who bought before Christmas, I shipped this order - US customer, he waited and waited, I waited and waited, and package took due to Christmas unusually longer than normal to arrive in the USA, perhaps it flew around the globe few times, nowhere to be seen, although was shipped and tracking was provided. Than buyer left negative feedback the very same day the tracking system showed the specimens were delivered, and the negative feedback stated, that the specimens were not delivered....Than I waited and waited and buyer just froze in time. Kept specimens and kept full refund, until I made the effort and asked, what is the matter, why isn't he repaying the refund. He sent the money but he kept the negative feedback stating, that the specimens never arrived, in place.... Isn't that just out of this World? This buyer initiated claim, reason - items not received. I refunded all money. buyer left negative feedback stating items not received the very same day when the tracking confirmed the package was delivered, few days later, I contacted the buyer, he did indeed confirmed receiving ALL the specimens in good order. He paid me back again all the money that I earlier refunded because he started a claim with Ebay. But, he never revised his feedback, for what reasons, I don't know. And that is to explain how I earned a negative feedback counting 30.... Just recently Austrian buyer purchased on Ebay from me. most of items sold for 1Euro, and despite the sale price was so low, he sent me 2 threads throgh Ebay message system. I felt like wanting to kick that gue into his right knee. Not only I was losing everythnig - time and money, but he also was threatening me. So I sent invoice ading the paypal fee of5%. He paid late and sned another thread, so I just cancelled the deal and refunded his late payment. I calculated - Papilio canadensis arcticus sold for 1Euro, Now Ebay takes 12% and PayPal takes 5%, now I am left with some 80cents. I had to collect this specimen in the subarctic Canada, this cost me something:), I had to professionally handle the specimen, transport it, sacure it and pin it, spreading it again professionally, I than had to photograph it and list on on Ebay. Than it was sold for 1Euro, and I would be ok to finish the deal if not the late payment and threads he sent at my address. So I cancelled, the deal, refunded him and the same day emailed him saying, is he is not happy with the way I do business and the specimens he could had goten from me, he should know that I blocked him and he will never buy from me again. Most of all I don't like to be threatened, enough kirk williams from New Zealand posts threads about me being dihonest, I wanted to spare this austrian buyer from such experiences, more so I was unhappy with the way he was threating myself in his threats. Imagine, still the very same day, despite I refunded all his money, 15 negative feedbacks with lies within, stating me ading 20% paypal fees... no baby, I aded 5% fee, I didn't want to go completely broke after dealing with you, I am not a charity and if you can't appreciate someone's work, than you better buy your flight ticket to Canada and collect the Papilio yourself. Verstehen? But back to Paul, the above mentioned is just to complete my response to your post and would ad, that some people, no matter how well they are treated by you, are never happy and will try to take advantage of their position. After all we are all naturalists, some of us scientists, and by looking at the matter pragmaticly, we know we have to live with it.

Kalamay, Just to point out that e-bay americaninsects-world shows up as if it is located in USA (MT, I think). That is false. This was also a source of trouble when esperanza was his/her brand name. On the other hand, I almost certain Peter Jakubek is not his/her name. americaninsects is registered with Ebay in USA. Where are you filing your income tax and what is your name?

Anyone know what happened to Peter Jakubek both his Esperaza web site and email have disappeared. I know he has a large number of unsatisfied customers over the year. Yes, I had just shipped 30 packages, all Ebay and off Ebay sales, will see how these go whether there will be reason for posting another thread by someone. Now preparing to ship another 17 packages to my valued customers. These people will not place any threads on insectnet forum. Again in November, I will send you all invitations to my Ebay auctions, you can buy with confidence. I ship from Poland, their postal services proved to be reliable. Later will ship again from Canada, where I reside, and where my company dedicated to teh study and sales of insects was founded in 2000. I am not a ghost so you can not just start to call me bad names without a reason. If you have something to say, let us first have your name, and than you can bring up any issues you have. If you never bought from me before, just stay shut and don't tell people not to buy from me. When you do, people shall just ignore you. You will receive quality study material, all accompanied with precise accurately recorded collection data. All specimens, which were not collected by myself are of a known provenance, I knew many and the best and recognized antomologists of the period. I do not deal withscammers not will ever do. I began putting collection of insects since I was 13, but had been fascinated with insects since little baby. With my colleague, we described in 2020, 6 new ssp. of Colias nastes from W Canada. Now waiting for the manusript to be accepted for publishing. Apart from selling my excess of specimens I own, I continue to study and better understand systematics and taxonomy of W Canada's butterflies. I suspect that soon I will be able to describe few new taxa. Genitalia and DNA samples were already partially prepared to support my observations. I've been to places in Canada that very few had been to, and since I began to study Canadian leps in 1999, I had now gone through the processes to better understand what I might had discovered. Results will be published sooner or later, as each taxon take stime to process. I wish to thank my colleagues for preparing the genitalia drawings and the DNA sequences for our current and future manuscripts. You will soon be informed of any developments in this regard. Best wishes, bid and buy from me at Ebay.com, you are also welcome to buy privately. Note, all my sales are taxed in Canada. If you need a proper signed invoice, you are welcome to request that to come along with your next order.

Hello Peter, Welcome to the forum. It is always good to have the point of view of the seller. I ask you and all members to keep this topic factual and without aggressivity and insults, otherwise it won't be helpful. I hope you will find a solution with all your customers and avoid these issues to reappear. Let's "calm the emotions" as you said in your first post. May I have your name, thank you. Without steping into the forum, I would end up being crucified by forum members. Although I like keeping any transactions private, it just works against me. So I decided to call upon all the crooks among members to disclose the reasons for their dissapoimtments and for calling me names. Their acting has crossed the red line. If I didn't buy anything from you, I would just say here, that warn everybody from buying from you. Even if I had negative experience with you, I shall be objective about it and not to begin call you names. And the ones, who never bought off me, should just stay with their mouths shut. I won't let anyone publicly call me names. These people either never bought from me anything or are profoundly trying to create an image of a terrible dealer - although I am not a dealer, I don't buy to sell, I collect, study my insects and only small portion is offerefd to interested collectors. I am not forcing anyone to buy from me. How can you...

InsectNet has been created in 1999. Look at the InsectNet Trading Report, you won't find a topic against a serious seller. On the contrary, you will find several members explaining that they are very happy about some of them.
This said, I personally don't think you are a crook as you have 97% positive feedback on eBay.
But as you asked about professionalism, my few advices : make it what you want. - if your ebay shop says you ship from the US and some parcels are sent from Canada or Mexico, it can be a huge issue for US collectors (especially with Mexican leps). I am sure you know the US legislation. You should clarify this to avoid any issues, questions and so on. - ignoring the largest insect forums for years for an insect sellers does not seem very smart to me - joining this forum to try and resolve some customer issue is a very good idea. But writing 20 posts to explain to each deceived customers that it is not your fault and that some of them are crazy is not the best way to improve your image.
So instead of becoming aggressive towards your deceived customers and InsectNet, you should better try to understand what you should improve in your business procedures.

Actually, I have dealt with him a few times, the last time by accident on eBay not realising it was him, and I've never had a problem with him. Sorry Bob Worthy, you purchased from me by accident. I have large collecion of Canadian Colias and so I offered some on Ebay and some of those you purchased. Sorry again you made a mistake and purchased from me. Did they stink or left a bad taste in your mouth? Any issues? Any dissapointments? Will you let us all know, how can we help you heal the wounds caused by dealing with me? We are all here a community supporting each other and so me being a new member, I'd like to contribute, apart from providing you with quality insects for your collecttion and studies and delivering ALL YOU HAD EVER purchased, I could help also in other ways - is there someone I shall call bad names or is there someone I shall say we shouldn't buy insets from? Let me help you and in the future, don't buy anything by accident please, it makes other people think, that you actually regret this. I don't know why you're having a go at me! I actually said "I've never had a problem with him". I said I bought by accident because you keep changing your user name on eBay so I didn't realise it was you, I don't know how anyone could interpret this as being something derogatory. There's no need to get so defensive that you see criticism when there's none there.

Bob, you are at insectnet forum, remember? You and I must be explicit as to the content of our messages, as some people believe, that you purchased isects from me by accident = by mistake = you might be regreting this.
By telling each of the valued reader the exact meaning, might help significantly.
If wollastoni reads my comments, he will realize, that I did not steal anything from timchenko from Russia nor from williams from New Zealand and that they should ask themselves, whether the posts they placed, are objective and worth stirring the emotions of various readers, including mine.
As you see, I am being quite well known in the World, just look at the number of views these threads were noticed by, and williams and timchenko just say, how terrible their experience was, but they both know, they got what they ordered. williams got photos of the female both sides, and the tail was not just repaired, it was the very same female's tail which was reinforced with tiny bit of glue, as it was bent and if not done so, this would certainly fall off during the transport. Beautiful female! I am not fool and he knew what he is buying, yet he says, that he purchased insects until he got stung by me - this is lie, he bought just one insect from me. The question is, what he meant by saying that he purchased several insects building trust and than he was stung by a little bee. I was not deceiving him in any way nor planned on making him unhappy for the rest of his life.
timchenko on the other hand, and it must be said, is a mamipulative character. He knew I apologized for not sending him one of hthe few specimens he purchased, the Oeneis macounii male in A- condition, I explained the reason - till today I don't know where is the male he won on Ebay, it must had been sent to other customer who got it for free as I might had just made one mistake and I probably just placed this male into a box destined to other person. I told timchenko what happened and I offered him either upgrade worth 7$ as I did not have nor have another A-male of the same species, or I offered him 10$ refund or 10$ discount on shipping on next parcel. He did not want upgrade, he did not want refund, he got 10$ discount on his next purchase's shipping.
I was fairly professional, I did not deceive him in any way, however he lets the entire World know, that he was terribly treated.
Regarding the legal USFWS regulations as we seem to be understanding them... it's not something we shall be afraid of, but something, we as a community, shall fight against. Governments across the Globe destroy OUR nature, nature that is equally OURs as theirs, who gives them the right to destroy our nature and at the same time pretend that they care for it? Collectors or nature lovers, us, you or I, are not responsible for any irreversable damages caused to the natural environment and it's content - all life forms. But its again those governments, who impose those irrational laws into effect and we just are doing nothing about it. The chemicals used in agriculture, overexploitation, unreasonable mining, waste of natural resources, destruction of meadows, forests, global industrialization, pollution of the seas/rivers/air and the soil, altering the climate, everything is destroyed by many industries, but not by butterfly collectors/entomologists. We need to fight against the laws forbidding us to trade with insects which were legally obtained. The most important law of a man kind is not to obey bad/irrational laws.
Amateur entomology as we know it in its current and past forms, may not survive the next decade.
USA is considered to be one of the greatest polluters of the World. USFWS will impose fines, if we try to supply an entomologist with a dead deceased insect, which was with care conserved for the purpose of a scientific study or enjoyment. This is wrong. We shall be discussing these things and trying to find a way how to address changes in this matter. That is by far more relevant topic than to argue in the forum, if williams or timchenko, both of which got exactly what they paid for, were or weren't terribly treated.

I thought I made myself quite clear and no sleight was intended. Unlike you, English is my first language, I'm also asked to edit the English in many papers by authors who do not have English as their first language, so I think I'm qualified.
By the way, Wollastoni is the owner of this website and is always impartial, so you would do well to heed what he says.

Petr, if I were you, I would have said : "Hello all, I see a lot of bad comments here. Please look at my eBay reviews and you will see that I am a honest supplier. I may have made some mistakes though (everyone does), so I ask all deceived members to send me an email at xxx@xxx and I am sure I will find a solution to make them happy".
Instead of this, you are very aggressive towards deceived customers, one happy customer and one InsectNet moderator : I am afraid you've worsen your image instead of improving it.

I don’t know anyone that provides the actual permit with specimen. No reason it can’t be done though. (edited, see our rules)I applied for CITES permit for apollos, my specimens had legal origin and were of very old collection date and of known provenance coming out of collections of respected collectors. However, CITES PERMITTING OFFICE won't issue a multishipment permit, so every specimen or even its part, will need individual CITES PERMIT for export or import. Now, they want to know, who purchased the specimen, and how you, the seller, acquired such specimen. yes, THEY need to know everything about us. But we know nothing about THEM... Well, like it or not, that is the CITES rules. We know a lot about them, as an organization. CITES was envisioned as a protector of endangered wildlife, part of which is a licensing process for international trade. CITES, like so many formerly well intentioned organizations has turned into a bureaucracy employed by individuals for personal gain. CITES, can and has in fact, changed US laws without the involvement of legislative bodies since USA is a signatory to CITES; this is absolutely outrageous (and, constitutionally illegal) but too bad, that's the way it is. That's all you need to know. You don't have to like it; I don't. CITES requires an export certificate for each shipment. Period. Buyers should have said certificate, otherwise the imported CITES species are illegal. As for wanting to know how a "seller acquired such specimen" well, duh, of course they do. That's to prove provenance, i.e., authenticity. A buyer should want to know that too- an expensive specimen without provenance (e.g., correct collecting data) is merely a pretty specimen, of little scientific value. Provenance even extends to the identification of the original collector, and which collections through which it has passed. This isn't legality, this is proof of authenticity and historically significant ownership, which absolutely will impact a later selling value. Chuck

I don't think, I hope so, that I've made my position worse than it is. My clients will continue buying from me and I am always inviting new clients to join the group of satisfied collectors. However, I do not want to sell to crooks, who are never to be happy no matter what you do, and they are out there.
I again call to everyobody to fight together not against each other but against bad laws, against the criminalization of entomology Worldwide. We are not criminals. There are many of us, including myself, who do not collect endangered species, protected species. There are people including myself, who have inherited important insect collections of a very old provenance. But these insects, many of them now protected, can not be sold or even given as a gift, unless a government officer being paid by us, allows you to do so.

Back to my other concern, williams from New Zealand, purchased just one butterfly from me back in 2011, it was a beautiful large female of Papilio multicaudatus, yet, after 9 years, he is so frustrated with this deal, that each time now and in the past, he will bring up his mistake, because he bought the female, he received the very female he bought based on photos he received prior to sealing the deal.
I will not apologize indefinitively to williams from NZ for providing fantastic female with ONLY reinforced right hindwings tail. williams bought from me because he was recommended to him by his mutual friend Laurie Wills, from New Zealand. I carried losses because of the way williams acts, as Laurie, despite making numerous purchases from me, stopped buying from me after williams got his female with the reinforced tail. This Papilio multicaudatus was collected in the wild, it was a large beautiful female, a rarity in sense of such a large specimen did not suffer any damages while being netted, except for having its one tail, bent but not missing.

Open another topic about CITES legislation if you want.

Let's not mix everything in this topic... it won't be readable. Open another topic about CITES legislation if you want. There are already such threads, including discussions last week alone. No serious environmentalist disagrees with the irony of focus on permits while rain forests are being destroyed. Anyone can Search the Forums to find this information. That said, a specimen sold as a product is incomplete without correct data and any required permits. I do find this whole thing entertaining, in a way. ETA: changed grammar to be more clear concerning audience.
