For many of you on ICF ( blue forum ) I posted there many photos and notes of SE Asian butterflies which I observed and collected in Thailand and Laos over the last few years. As this forum is more focused on moths I will post some of my specimens here on Insectnet ( green forum ). Here are few drawers of Sphinx moths Family: Sphingidae Subfamily: Smerinthinae Column 1: from bottom: Ambulyx siamensis 4, Ambulyx substrigilis 3 Column 2: Ambulyx moorie 6, Ambulyx canescens 1, Ambulyx ochracea 1 Column 3: Amplypterus panopus 5, Ambulyx pryeri 2 Column 4: Callambulyx rubicosa 3, Ambulyx sericeipennis 1, Craspedortha porphyria 5, ( beside ) Smerinthulus quadripunctatus cottoni 2, Column 5: Parum colligata 8, Marwennius decoratus 2. Please note that some of Ambulyx species are very hard to identify as they are very similar and variable, if anyone can see misidentified specimen please do correct it.

Also I doubt that the one above the 3 C. rubricosa is A. sericeipennis, it doesn't look like that species. I used to know how to distinguish all the Thai Ambulyx but it's so long ago now I have forgotten.

Yes, I thought originally that it is but I didn’t even include determination label under as I wasn’t sure about that one. Adam, do you think it could be also A.siamensis? All websites are not consistent in regards Ambulyx. Paul

This is a question of curiosity. Did you collect all of these Sphingids. Or, did you purchase them.
Superb mounting. Excellent preparation.
I should get you to mount for me.

How often do you travel into SE Asia?
The only country I have collected in would be some of the Islands nations of the Caribbean. I forgot, I have collected in California!!!

I used to spend there about 8 months a year for last five years but now we are only going there for about 2,3 months. Plans are to move there for good in few years.
