Jan, This forum topic has moved into the absurd stage, rather pointless. You started a good topic and it revealed a number of truths and misconceptions by our contributors. For me, it has all been said. There are always the lurkers who read this stuff, and may be influenced by reading both sides of the issue and using their brains. The contributors like me and you and exoticimports and leptraps and gaspipe and Paul K and Adam are unlikely to change our minds about the subject, but by telling our side, maybe it changes one lurker’s thinking for the better.
I usually am only stimulated to contribute when anyone posts some bad science. Like gaspipe and others, I am pretty much done with this thread. I applaud your persistence but having experienced decades of this argument, I’m done. Soon my wife and I are off to Australia and we will experience this heat and fire wave. Rick

Now, since I did offer to debunk right-wing propaganda as needed, I'll point this out- If memory serves, there's a video on one of the links I posted near three months ago that debunked THAT EXACT lying solar cycles video, in the Potholer climate change videos- maybe a few videos into the playlist. If any semi-intelligent poster would actually take an hour somewhere in the last three months and click a few provided links, they'd have realized they got de-pants'ed months ago and change their tune or pipe down. I took a break from this thread, no point arguing when I've already made my points with solid substance and it's only been rebutted by koolaide. If you just ignore everyone but yourself, what's the point conversing- don't even try to address it when you've been de-pants'ed, just ignore it and switch to some "true thinker" koolaide talk instead. RJB made good sense to me, same with Jshuey but he too gets some nonsense koolaide "rebuttal" with no substance and certainly no science.
Funny that when you actually do "follow the money", guys like Patrick whatever or PragerU are standing there with their hands wrapped around a Koch payoff. Following the money is how we know Patrick what's his stupid name is a paid liar. Maybe you can show me how to follow the money to a left-wing conspiracy this same way, and I hope you will do exactly that- I'm open to the idea and willing to learn if you'll explain the specifics, but so far I'm not following the idea that wind generators and solar are actually just a nefarious plot for the lefties to keep getting rich. I can see that these fossil-fuel billionaires ARE having strategy meetings, plotting to and succeeding in misinforming the public enough to maintain their stranglehold on profits.
How many of you have been to or are familiar with the "Answers in Genesis" Ark Ken Ham built in Kentucky? They deny scientific evolution, but display dinosaurs as being on Noah's Ark and teach that they dispersed and evolved into whatever extant reptile species we have today AFTER the flood. They've got a floating fake barge Ark charging entry fees in Denmark, too. Becoming familiar with these type of things helps me understand what we're up against- people who'll ignore or ridicule facts because they think they already know all there is to know are not ever gonna come around, and people who think Bonespurs McDronestrike was sent by God himself are not interested in your silly facts or your silly science. Most are blissfully unaware of current evolution science, and downright upset that Aron Ra and God's will stopped them from teaching creation "science" in Texas.
I wonder if I'm the only other person in this forum who knows of "noodles", lol. Bichos I'm certain you could easily find Tesla and Candlebox "change/changes" songs for your project of spamming up this thread. Either you have quite wide-ranging taste in music, and I can't imagine loving both Deftones AND Taylor Swift!, or your search engine didn't do you any favors...Judas Priest's "Victim of Changes" would look a lot cooler than TS in my circles, but with the effort you've put into spamming this thread maybe you just ain't that kind of cool.
PS, Did any of you hear Greta Thunberg was picked some dumb magazine's person of the year 2019? I know, or at least I heard, that it was all rigged against the rightful winner from the start by anti-american crazy people who love terrorists and hate orange liar war criminals.
I also see lots of mentions of overpopulation from some, and Leroy very upset about abortion and saying it started in 1970? Now, legal may have begun then, but abortion did not start then. It just moved out of back alleys and into the hospital where less of our daughters would die. I'm not sure how it all works in a Christian mind, but I wonder if those zygotes and embryos and such got a free ride to heaven? If this were the case, that would have been my only chance at getting there(heaven). Adding babies and babies of babies, I extrapolate that number to have saved us a billion or so people minimum from an already overpopulated planet. I've also learned that the most religious states(Louisiana #1 if I remember right) in the US also lead the country in both abortion and murder, per capita. It's not the leftist blue states like you probably wanna believe, but pregnant kids that don't wanna face their religious parents in many cases. Financial issues and drug addictions are also big reasons for abortions, and I don't fault them in any case. I am male, but still I figure if that zygote was gonna live in my belly and grow to 9 lbs before finally ripping itself outta my body, it's gonna need my consent for all that to happen. I'm not willing to forcibly place a potential human's rights over those of an actual living person. In the bible you can find passages where abortion is mentioned, and it isn't condemned but recommended as a good idea if you have discovered your wife was unfaithful. Maybe God doesn't care as much as you'd think he would about this issue?

Marketing is the most powerful force in all of existence. True. Although calling names and denigrating others with straw man arguments has yet to catch on as a valid marketing tool. Maybe insulting the messenger will catch on as a valid debate tool and stop being seen as a low maturity indicator. The messages predicting how people will reply have so far been spot on. The psychology of this thread has been an excellent teaching tool. Those of you who read the Asimov Foundation books may remember the Seldon Plan. It is eerily relevant to this.

My only question to Greta/ why are you not going to visit China/ Russia/ North Korea/ India/ and lecture their leaders on their envirnomental record. China takes the gold medal for polluting the air/ water/ soil. The Yangzte is now a dead River. Most of the garbage in the Oceans is from Asian Countries. However even Greta knows she would be barred from entering these Countries.
In past time periods, the planet was twice as hot as today, just go back 30 Million years ago. Even during the Medieval warm period it was warmer then today. Climatic changes are brought on by that yellow thing in the sky called the Sun. John

I can't resist this subject, even though in today's "climate" it's really close to politics. Sure, climate change is real, one big problem is that people get climate and weather confused, in case you're not sure- climate is weather over time- decades and centuries, weather is what happens each day. Wind moves our air around, and people do have an impact on the planet, but if anyone can get every country to get on board with the same agenda, that person would accomplish something indeed. Alarmist ravings turn people off. That was really ironic about the Mercury Comet, I am sorry the gentleman was killed. I could stand with a "world is ending" sign, and I'd be right- it's just a matter of time. People sometimes want disasters in their lifetime, it gives them a chance to say "I told you so", or gives the short lives we have more meaning. I watch educational tv and see glaciers melting, these things have happened over the life of the planet time and time again, how much humans are actually contributing can never be known. We all benefit from human "progress", and the effect it has is just something society will have to deal with until aliens come down and eat us up .

Even during the Medieval warm period it was warmer then today. Climatic changes are brought on by that yellow thing in the sky called the Sun. John The Yangtze is dead because they didn't balance human and environmental needs properly. A billion people dumping waste into it and about 75 dams slapped up to provide them power. The chinese paddlefish grew to 22 feet maximum length and wasn't valued properly "because progress" so it's now extinct. I'm wondering, do US corporations deserve any blame for sending our jobs over there where they don't regulate properly, or is that "because progress" too? The sun burned at a fraction of it's modern intensity if I were able to go back 30 million years. Earth was hot then because of CO2 concentrations, not from the power of that yellow thing in the sky. On prehistoric earth volcanoes up to the size of the Deccan Traps(200,000 to 600,000 square miles) put CO2 into the atmosphere. It basically wrapped a blanket around earth and kept the heat in despite the relatively low power of the sun. There were no humans to care- it's not like our ancestors lived through this stuff and it didn't matter, our ancestors probably looked like salamanders back then. The stresses of change killed 99% of species, today's extant species represent 1% of total species documented in fossil records. It doesn't really work for you to say yup, this has all happened before so I can't see what the big deal is today. When climate changes species have to adapt and change or they die, unless they're cockroaches or crocodiles. Medieval warm period is NOTHING compared to today's warmup, it's spiking off the graph today so bad they have to change the axis to record it. As far as the insectnet community, it appears many of you can't/won't believe your lying eyes even when you see a massive decline in habitat, in insect populations, in sea life and wildlife- outside of a few very adaptable species that will continue to thrive despite the pressures of man or because of man's mistakes(whitetail deer, coyote, cane toads, asian carp, etc). I find it surprising and disappointing that a "science" based online community makes such strong efforts to cling to their beliefs and so little effort into informing themselves. It seems the age of information is also the age of mis-information.

While I get your general point, our ancestors certainly did not look like salamanders (amphibians) 30 million years ago. Ancestral primates, from which man evolved, appeared about 55 million years ago, and possibly as early as 65 million years ago. See en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evolution_of_primates . Adam.

I am going to leave Leroy's post up uncensored, but PLEASE EVERYONE DO NOT discuss abortion any more. It is not really relevant to the current thread and should not be discussed on Insectnet.
I WILL DELETE FURTHER POSTS ON ABORTION REGARDLESS OF CONTENT.
Thank you everyone.
Adam.

I've replied to this thread, but I'd like to see this subject, which is really too close to politics removed from the forum. We all live in different countries, and have different systems of government and no one system can be applied to another country. We've seen some ludicrously silly responses to a subject that many are passionate about, and there lies the problem, it is a passionate subject and doesn't belong here, putting people at each other's throats. I just received an email from a person in another country, criticizing my countries response to this virus. Who are you to criticize me? Very possibly the beginning of the end of what was friendly and regular exchanges. There are several subjects I don't discuss with people I don't know very well- politics, religion, sexual orientation and how much money I make. Let's keep politics and ideology out of the hobby, please.
