The classified are being swamped with random butterfly listings plucked off of eBay by "Collectors Secret".
I like the classifieds because they are offers from real people. I can search eBay on my own and find these random leps.
Is anyone else annoyed, or am I just a little touchy about this?

Count me in as well--would like to see them take their "Secret" somewhere else.

Yes, very annoying. If I wanted to bid/buy on eBay I would go there and search the site. I like reading the Insectnet classifieds to find out who's selling what and see what interesting things are on offer.

Me too. I'm able to look for insects at ebay for myself.
Clark, can you stop him?

The Classifieds should restrict eBay adverts to those placed by the eBay member who is selling his items, not 3rd party ads like those posted by Collectors Secret.

Me again ...
... I've been thinking about this and it seems to me the only way Collectors Secret can be making money is by 'click through' payment by eBay. If this is true he's effectively a parasite, just feeding off clicks and not really contributing anything at all.
My theory might be incorrect, if so I'd like to know how Collectors Secret does make money, can't be doing it for nothing, after all.

I believe Olivier Wollastoni, an active member of this forum, is doing that. I bet he is doing that with good intentions, but I'd agree that it's blowing up the number of the adds and you need more time to check them. I also can check ebay on my own.

Well I disagree. This "Secret" reference is convenient and time saving. If Olivier is behind this then good for him.

Dear friends,
Indeed I have created this website. It is used by more than 500 people per day and thus seems to be useful to many. Both buyers and sellers sent me many emails to thank me.
I post 2 to 4 classifieds by day, I don't really see how it can be seen as "parasiting". You can also find shells and fossils on this website.
Thank you suzuki for your nice words.
Adam I earn few euros per days with this website and it helps me finance my Delias website.
Regards Olivier

Maybe I should better explain how it can be useful to convince more people. One example : if you are a collector of butterfly aberrations, you can find on the same page and in one click, all finishing auctions with insect aberrations from ebay.com, ebay.de, ebay.fr without any other polluting items : www.collector-secret.com/index.php/ins/b/ab/To do the same research without polluting items will take you about 30 minutes.

Olivier,
Sorry if I may have offended you. Thanks for explaining the advantages of using it to find unusual specimens across eBay.
Is it possible to mark the Collectors Secret ads so we can tell them apart before opening them. Perhaps use the code 'CS' in the subject line? That would help identify your ads both to those that want to use the service, and those who are not interested.
Adam.

I do not think it is annoying at all, but would be better to identify them in the title !
Searching on ebay can take hours, while it takes minutes on Olivier system ...
Those interested can include this website in their favorites, and may be Olivier will not need to advertise so often ...
A+, Michel

Maybe I should better explain how it can be useful to convince more people. Wollastoni, Please take my post as a constructive criticism. Your Collector's Secret site at the current state is simply not reliable and can't replace checking new ebay offers regularly or a thorough ebay search. For example: Macrodontia on collector-secret.com (3 specimens): Simple ebay search (6 specimens; note that no one is newly posted): Furthermore, Fornassinius on collector-secret.com (none): But coleopterologists know that its name is misspelled often. Let's try ebay search for Fornasinius (boom! 4 specimens, including rare FORNASINIUS AUREOSPARSUS): Sorry, but for me collector-secret adds are rather annoyance.
