Mr Dennison work for ya then? That's the name he chose when calling in to radio shows to talk about how great he was in those days...He's been a liar his whole life.
Looks like some pretty old data you're working with there, I see 2006 as the latest date on those sources. Gonna have to toss those out too, I want the most current data I can have. This data is right in there when the PEAK of the illegal immigration was occurring, and it has declined massively since then...I'd rather not use 10-15 year old data for something as dynamic as this, the current data suggests we have far less of a problem these days.
The stuff about E-verify causing rotting veggies and undone jobs, I call fearmongering. They tell you the same if the subject is a living wage. The guys holding all the dollars also own all the publications and media outlets, and they are ALSO the ones who benefit from keeping status quo. Even the wall talk, is basically a way to keep the status quo for about the next 20 years...it's gonna take 10+ to build, and then we gotta give it a chance to work. So, status quo continues at least that long. Meanwhile I mentioned several options of what to do with the "caught" illegals from E-verify, I'm sure there are others too but basically you either gotta pay a living wage, or you gotta break the law. If your business model doesn't work without illegal labor, then your business model might be the problem.
They're talking about a $15 minimum wage right now, Bernie introduced the bill yesterday. We'll all hear that same stuff, unemployment and rotting produce, nobody else to do the jobs. This is all fearmongering, Bernays propaganda crap BASED ON NOTHING. An example of a decent minimum wage in a developed country would be Australia. Their minimum wage is in excess of 18 dollars an hour. Their unemployment rate, 5.4%. Paying a living wage does not collapse the economy, it grows it.
Quite simply, the problem in America right now, is the working man's wages haven't risen as fast as the cost of living. Our productivity is higher than ever, but the man at the top takes it all and we get a 7.50 minimum wage or whatever it is. I got a guy claiming he gets $12 an hour arguing FOR the rich trickle-down policies.
I say if you wanna see the economy blast off, give the poor a little bigger cut. They ain't gonna hoard it like the rich, they're gonna spend it- yesterday! Supply-side trickle down means the economy grows at a trickle for average consumers, Demand-side economics means it all stays in circulation and the economy grows. Ever since reagan we keep electing trickle down warmongers; I figure the cost of the 2 Iraq wars would have covered the wall, the 18 year whatever-it-is we're doing in Afghanistan would have covered quite a bit of border security too, and instead we have created a couple generations worth of hate and terrorists instead with that money...and they lied all the way to get us into those wars and several others we are in right now. We are still over there, creating more terrorists in the name of fighting terror, as we speak. What the hell is a "war against terror"? A propaganda phrase to create strong feelings and manufacture consent.
Do you care to discuss the surveillance state at all and how it might be a better defense than a wall, particularly for the millions that are already here? Because in my eyes, the illegals that are already here in my area is a lot bigger concern than the "crisis" at the border thousands of miles from me.
Back when I was a kid, my stepdad worked at the nearby beef packing plant. They had a union, and when the contract expired, the plant locked the union employees out and started bringing "probable" illegals all the way up from TX by bus. The wages there are barely changed in the 35+ years since then. I know you guys probably blame the illegals, but I blame the company for this. This is the part that has to change, and a wall isn't gonna change this at all. That company was making about a million a week back in those days, but it's much more than that now.
I wanna also mention, I'd care less if you call 'em Obozo and Moochelle, you are welcome to bash away at any politician you disagree with and I won't go "snowflake" on you. I'll likely find myself agreeing with you in some cases, I don't identify with either party, but I know a professional grifter when I see one. I get a good kick outta that, the "R"s calling everybody snowflakes while they cry about the angry libs. it's like they can't look in the mirror! Mr Dennison has always has been a contemptible person but he can't even spell the word. But he can spell POCAHONTAS!!!!
